Some tips for setting up that new laptop

Tis the season of gift giving and lots of people will be getting a new computer, but once it’s in your hands, what do you do to make sure it’s performing the best it can? Whether it’s PC or MAC a little time up front is worth it.

But even if you have a nice new Mac, It really comes down to a few basic things.

  1. Remove the bloatware
  2. update the operating system (windows/os x)
  3. update device drivers
  4. Antivirus software
  5. BACKUP SOFTWARE (seriously so many problems can be fixed if you just keep a backup)
  6. Install the LATEST VERSIONS of the programs you like (Office? Adobe? iTunes?)
  7. BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER
  8. BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER
  9. BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER
  10. BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER

Oh, and be sure after all the stuff you do… BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER.
