Halsey’s SNL performances were a mix of art and shade

Halsey pulled off a lot when she hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ this past weekend, especially since she was doubling as the host and the musical guest of the night, becoming the 8th woman in the show’s history to do that.

Although Khalid and Benny Blanco weren’t present, she still performed ‘Eastside’ by herself all while painting a whole mural on the floor of the SNL musical stage, turning it into a very aesthetically pleasing and artistic performance that a seemingly perfect painting came out of.

Her performance of ‘Without Me’ is what shook audiences the most though, because of the subtle (but not subtle at all) jab at her ex-boyfriend, G-Eazy, who she recently revealed is who she wrote the song about shortly after their breakup. Halfway through the song, the black backdrop surrounding Halsey turned into a bunch of handwritten apologies reading “I’m so sorry Ashley I cheated” in the center. Halsey has hinted before that the rapper had cheated on her, and after her confirming that ‘Without Me’ is definitely about him, it’s pretty obvious to know what she was insinuating when she pulled this performance off.
