
Tony Bennett, a national treasure remembered for merging different generations of music, died Friday, July 21st, 2023. At 96, Bennett was just 2 weeks shy of his birthday. His publicist confirmed the death to The Associated Press stating he died in his hometown of New York. It is not yet known what specifically caused Bennett’s death, but he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease since 2016.
Bennett was known for blending genres such as pop and jazz which were a part of his crusade which he called the Great American Songbook. His final album “Love For Sale” featured duets with Lady Gaga, “Night and Day” and other Porter Songs. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Antonia and Johanna, sons Danny and Dae, and nine grandchildren.
