
Longtime game show host Bob Barker has died at the age of 99. Barker spent half a century of his life hosting “The Price is Right” and “Truth and Consequences”. He also spent a good amount of his life advocating for animal rights. Retiring in 2007, he left the audience with this message; “I thank you, thank you, thank you for inviting me into your home for more than 50 years.”
CBS commented on Barker’s death saying that that daytime television has lost one of its “most iconic stars. Over the course of his career, he taped over 5,000 episodes of television. Following his retirement from “The Price is Right”, Drew Carey was chosen as his replacement. Barker joined Carey on “The Price is Right” stage in 2009 in promotion of his memoir, “Priceless Memories”, which detailed his experiences from hosting the show.
