Rumors have been speculating all year about when Dusty Baker would be retiring. Announced at a press conference earlier today (10/26/2023), Baker officially announced his retirement from his role as the Astros manager. This was Baker’s fourth season managing the Houston Astros and following a loss from the Texas Rangers that left the Astros with one win shy of heading to the World Series. Baker began his managing career in 1993 and holds a legendary 19-year career as an outfielder. Astros owner Jim Crane praised Dusty Baker at the press conference saying “We love you and we’ll miss you. You came in and helped us when we needed some help. You did a great job. You were the only guy who could do that.” Dusty Baker leaves behind some big shoes to fill, the question on everyone’s mind is, who will fill them?
